I am obsessed with powerful women silenced by death it seems.
Weird that as I contemplate the Queen of Pentacles and the power and tenacity it takes to rule the world - any world - I'm shocked by the news about the murder of punk rock manager turned real estate mogue Linda Stein in New York. Bludgeoned to death in her Fifth Avenue apartment, this has eerily similar elements to the murder of the lovely actress Adrienne Shelly.
Both women had construction going on in their buildings. Shelly complained and a disgruntled construction worker hanged her in her bathroom, attempting to make it look like a suicide.
Whoever killed Ms. Stein made no attempts to make it look like anything other than a fatal beating. Wow. A horrible way to go.
I am devastated for her family, her daughters and for women everywhere. Linda Stein was a force to be reckoned with. She went one on one with her client Joey Ramone in a screaming match once and HE back down.
What a woman!
